Curse of the Dead Gods Wiki

Some Weapons can deal Critical Damage (or Critical Hits) under specific conditions. Critical Hits are indicated by yellow damage numbers.

Critical Hits are noticeably more destructive than "normal" attacks. Learning how to reliably land Critical Hits can greatly increase one's damage output.

Gameplay[ | ]

Contrary to a lot of comparable games, Critical Hits are never random in Curse of the Dead Gods : you will always deal Critical Hits as long as the Critical Hit conditions of your weapon are fulfilled. For example, hitting an enemy in the back with a Dagger, or hitting them with a Sword's Combo Finisher, will always deal Critical Damage.

Most weapons belonging to the same Fighting style deal Critical Hits under the same conditions. Some Fighting styles, like Spears or Bows, favour a Critical Damage-centered playstyle, as it is relatively easy to land Critical Hits using these weapons. On the other hand, Torches, Shields and Maces usually have no way to trigger Critical Hits.

Damage[ | ]

By default, Critical Hits increase total damage (excluding the Weakened modifier, if applicable) by 50%.[1]

In addition, some Affixes and Relics grant Critical Damage increases : it is perfectly possible to stack these effects. Critical Damage modifiers (including the +50% base multiplier) are all stacked additively.

  • For example, a Player using a weapon with a "+20% Critical Damage" Affix and a +45% Onyx Shard relic will inflict +115% damage (base 50% + 20% from the Affix + 45% from the Onyx Shard) whenever they deal a Critical Hit.

Default Critical Hit conditions[ | ]

The vast majority of weapons in Curse of the Dead Gods use the same Critical Hit conditions as the other weapons belonging to the same Fighting style. This section covers these "default" Critical Hit conditions.
