Elements and Status Effects in Curse of the Dead Gods are buffs and debuffs that can be applied to the Player or to their Enemies.

They can be applied by a variety of sources : Weapons, Blessings, Traps...

Some of these Effects, when combined, produce even more useful (and spectacular) reactions.

Elemental Effects[ | ]

Fire[ | ]

  • Fire attacks set enemies and objects on fire, illuminating the surrounding area.
  • Fire also inflicts a small damage-over-time effect of 5HP/second.
  • Burning characters take more damage from Fire damage over time if they are also Poisoned.
  • Applying Dark damage to a Burning enemy Weakens them.

When Burning, the player character can dodge to immediately extinguish the flames.

Lightning[ | ]

  • Lightning attacks apply the Shocked status to enemies.
  • Lightning Combo Finishers call down lightning strikes on all Shocked enemies, dealing 50% of the Finisher's damage (on top of the Finisher's damage for the enemies that are hit by both the bolt and the Finisher), interrupts those enemies, and sets them on Fire.
  • Applying Dark damage to a Shocked enemy immediately triggers a lightning strike.

Poison[ | ]

  • Any Poisonous attack applies 50% additional damage over time.
  • Burning characters take more damage from Fire damage over time if they are also Poisoned.
  • Dark damage adds Poison damage to Poisoned enemies.

When the player character is Poisoned, his Stamina regenerates much slower.

Dark Damage[ | ]

Cursed Weapons usually deal Dark damage. Applying Dark damage to enemies suffering from elemental debuffs applies the following effects :

  • It Weakens Burning enemies.
  • It inflicts additional Poison damage to Poisoned enemies.
  • It triggers lightning strikes on Shocked enemies.

Enemies dealing Dark Damage also inflict Corruption in addition to their damage.

Status Effects[ | ]

Weakness[ | ]

  • Weakened enemies take 50% more damage for a short duration.
  • Successful Parries against melee attacks stun and Weaken enemies.
  • Inflicting Dark damage on burning enemies Weakens them.

Weakened status is notified with a broken shield icon above enemies' heads.

Haste[ | ]

  • Temporarily increases movement speed.

Fury[ | ]

  • The player deals 50% more damage for 6 seconds.
